Description

The Chair “Cátedra UAB-Cruïlla” is public private partnership, in agreement from March 2024 to December 2026, with the aim of promoting state-of-the-art research in Artificial Intelligence (AI), withing the context of Music and Arts in general. The funding of the chair is as follows:

The Partners

  • The private partner is Barcelona Events Musicals, the organiser of the Cruïlla Festivals, most important agent in life events. Cruïlla is sponsoring the Chair with 200,000.00€.
  • The public partner is Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), a public Spanish University in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. UAB contributes with 600,000.00€ granted through the “Cátedras ENIA 2022” competitive program. The public funding aims at the consolidation of the Chair during the period 2024-2026, to become a sustainable joint initiative from 2027 onwards.

The Chair is developing actions around the following 4 lines of action:

  • Basic, oriented and applied research in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Support to talent an innovation in the industrial ecosystem.
  • Programme for citizen-centric innovation.
  • Capacity building, communication and social impact.
  • 1.1. Boost to critical research mass: 3 one-year postdoctoral contracts in AI and Arts.
  • 1.2. Mapping and support for AI research at the UAB, with a multidisciplinary vision and connection to ecosystem challenges.
  • 1.3. 4 artistic residencies in Research Centers for research in transdisciplinary AI.
  • 1.4. 20 awards for Final Degree Projects, Master’s and Theses.
  • 1.5. Own GPU computing resources.
  • 1.6. Open access publication expenses for transdisciplinary research.
  • 2.1. Annual actions for the identification of ecosystem challenges.
  • 2.2. 15 internship contracts in companies.
  • 2.3. Support for rapid prototyping of 10 solutions.
  • 2.4. Support for entrepreneurship and venture capital consulting for 3 initiatives.
  • 2.5. Development of the ILP with the business network.
  • 2.6. Support for scheduled actions: Ai4All, MeMEn, Innovation Week UAB, MWC.
  • 3.1. Deployment of prototypes on the UAB Campus: Campus as a Living Lab.
  • 3.2. Development of artistic events: Event as a Living Lab..
  • 4.1. 5 teaching units in 5 different UAB degree programs.
  • 4.2. 20 GitHubs and videos of Final Degree Projects, Master’s and Theses in 4 minutes (Catalog).
  • 4.3. 15 actions to increase AI and Arts vocations in high school.
  • 4.4. Annual program “ExperimentAI in Public Libraries.”
